Stafford April 2008 - Our Stand

Stafford 2007We had a stand at the recent Stafford Motorcycle show where we displayed three of our bikes and many spares (see photos).

As at the Oct 07 show we were slightly disappointed with the outcome despite loads of interest, especially in the three bikes. More people were looking than buying probably because they were being more careful with their cash - the current financial turmoil seems to be having an effect... (Apr 08)

Retro City Motorcycles Ltd is formed

Graham and his first bikeIn March we dissolved the original Retro City Motorcycles partnership and Graham (in photo with his first Z1300) formed Retro City Motorcycles Ltd.

Graham is the Managing Director of the new entity which has bought the stock of motorcycles and spares from the partnership. Graham has also extensively added to this stock as you will see from the expanded list of classic bikes on the Bikes for Sale page. Keith the mechanic (see About Us) has also joined the new company.

Please accept our apologies for the non availability of the web site while we have been setting the new company.

The following news items are taken from the original Retro City partnership web site. (Apr 08)

Two Magazine - Classic Scrap Z1300 vs CBX1000

Two PhotosOn a Monday morning at the end of last year we got a call from Two asking us if we had a Z1300 that they could test against a Honda CBX1000. We said yes we did have a Z1300 that they could ride, and not only that, we had a CBX1000 that they could test it against!

The following Friday, two test riders and a cameraman came to Dover for the day to do the test. Despite the weather being wet and overcast the testing went very well and Two took some excellent photographs of our bikes. For us it was a great day, not least, because of the opportunity to have an unbiased test of the Z1300 against the CBX1000 by professional riders.

As we hinted on our Home page we think that the best bike won. For full details please take a look at Jim and Mike's excellent article in the March 08 issue of Two. (Jan 08)

Stafford Motorcycle Show - Winner of the Z1300 Trophy

GPZ1500 turboAs we showed you before, this is what our GPZ1500 turbo looked like 2 - 3 days before the show...

GPZ1500After working all night on the Thursday before the show, the GPZ1500 was transformed into the awesome bike you see here...

GPZ 1500All the effort was worthwhile because at our first attempt we won the Z1300 trophy!

For us this is a dream come true and we would like to thank Adam and Sandra (owners of the Z1300 club) and all fellow Z1300 riders for their encouragement and support for our new company.

The next stage for the GPZ1500 is to run it at Santa Pod. This will sometime in the New Year, assuming we can source all the bits we need in time. We will keep you advised of our progress and look forward to seeing you there.

Now we have launched Retro City at Stafford, our aim is not only to buy and sell as many z1300s as we can, but also to help as many owners as possible, so that we can keep these beautiful machines on the road where they belong. Please feel free to phone Keith at any time for advice and we'll do our best to help. Also if you have a part you need for your Z1300 please let us know and we'll get our Stores Department to help.

Once again thanks for all your support - together be proud - many thanks Graham and Keith. (Oct 07)

Stafford Motorcycle Show - Our Stand

Stafford 2007Although we had a stand this year at Stafford, with three of our bikes and many spares, we were slightly disappointed with the outcome despite the lovely weather. There was loads of interest, especially in the bikes, but more people were looking than buying - perhaps a recession is on the way... Speaking to other exhibitors most felt the same way. (Oct 07)
